On April 27, 2016, the European Parliament published a new regulation regarding the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of their personal data and the free movement of such data, designated as the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and the Council.
This regulation came into force on May 25, 2018, and repeals Directive 95/46/EC on the protection of personal data.
